N E S mini
>> PROJECT – NES Mini <<:// INTRO
After I had finished the DC2 cart I was stuck on what to do next. This is something which I still struggle with today. My biggest fault when it comes to 3D projects is that it took me a while to realize that 3D assets can be treated as sketches.
Every project does not need to be a full-blown environment with X number of hero assets.
At this time, I was also struggling to create something “fun”. As each project before this one was tailored for a portfolio, I forgot that 3D could be fun (and stylized).
:// MICRO MACHINES
I love retro gaming, so much so that I have everything from the PlayStation 2 generation down. I looked over and saw my big, boxed NES. This is something that has basic geometric shapes and could be produced with a slightly quick turn-around.
I decided to make it a bit “shorty and chubby” to give it some type of charm.
The model did come out pretty good if I do say so myself. I even decided to not have any texture maps on it. Standard colored shaders would do.
Looking back on it, I should have made a room within the same style and mock-up a NES screenshot on the TV.
Dude, I even made a mini Samus which I think would have fit the style perfectly.
(Damn, that Kraid’s Lair theme)
