The Evil Within

Being a HUGE fan of Survival Horror & Shinji Mikami I could not wait for this game to come out. The Man who built the Mansion had returned to the genre.

My main attraction to the genre is actually the Environments. For example, in the Resident Evil series you see a regular-everyday-environment crumble around you. Along with some awesome Super hi tech Laboratories or Installations towards the end.

I was very curious to see what the team at Tango Gameworks would do with the classic Asylum environment.

This is going to be a tricky one to write, because if I actually give specifics about my favorite set pieces it will ruin the plot for anyone that has not played the game.

I guess the best way to go about it would be to talk about the surprising, yet familiar settings.

The game does an excellent job of causing tension with the environment around you. Even though there are many common elements that we are very familiar with, the way most of these environments are presented cause a very unnerving feeling.

The production level on the Environments & Assets were really high. The game looks very PC Friendly [Probably because it runs on Id Tech 5]. The team over at The Workshop did a fantastic job of maintaining the art style throughout the entire game.

Japanese Devs always create creepy weirdness

Some of the vehicles did seem a bit underwhelming though. A few of them actually seemed out of place [in terms of style].

Although, I probably spent way too much time looking at all of the desks placed throughout the game.
