Revenge

>> REVENGE TRAILER <<

:// INTRO

Holy shit.

Where do I even start? Rape-revenge films are amongst the most difficult to watch. For obvious reasons, of course, it’s an extremely shocking subject matter.

The only way to fully get through it is to think about the excitement of when the villains finally get their come-uppens. This is another one of those synthwave-inspired-neo-noir (you read it here first) movies for me.

So the basic story breaks down like this: a dude and his mistress (not sure if she knows she’s the mistress, I could be wrong) head out to the middle of nowhere for a romantic getaway. Dude’s friends show up a day early for their hunting trip (she was supposed to be gone by then), they attack her and left her for dead.

Then she gets her sweet, sweet revenge on all three male characters.

The movie is extremely stylized for being shot in what can be called a “bland” environment.

The Desert.

It features a number of quick cuts synched to synthwave (as it should be). This gives the movie a tight sense of tension, even though it takes place in broad daylight.

(Something Resident Evil 5 promised, but did not deliver)

:// DROP IT LIKE ITS HOT

Revenge also does an excellent job in maintaining a steady pace, which again, is not an easy thing to do.

No spoilers here

Normally, I have about four or five breaks in a blog post, but due to the many twists and turns this movie takes it would be very difficult to discuss them without spoiling the rest of the plot.

Revenge was the movie that made me join Shudder, this one is well worth a watch.
