October Games

>> PROJECT – Horror Legends << >> PROJECT – The Farm <<

:// INTRO

As mentioned before, me and The Drake go back. Way back.

We met about half-way through college and cut our teeth on Animation Production Studio. After graduation were lucking to start working together professionally.

During our lunches we started thinking what we could work on as a hobby.

Then suddenly Drake had the vision:

Horror Legends.

:// REC

The idea for Horror Legends came around the time REC was brought over to the states. The basic idea was a “killer vs survivors” type deal.

Each killer would have an environment which would be tailored to them and include elements from their back stories.

I’m trying to think what the game was going to be called. Damn I can’t remember, fucking fossil.

I did however come up with the name “Legends” for each killer.

You read that here first son.

:// SCOPE

The scope for this game quickly grew. It wasn’t scope creep per se, but we did quickly realize that each “piece” of the game would need to be worked on as its own project in order to build up the world we were thinking about.

For example, The Drake had the idea of creating a comic which would tell the origin story of Horror Legend’s flagship character: Punkie.

There were multiple ways in which each legend could be introduced and have their story expanded upon. We did have the idea of leaning heavily into the environmental story telling aspect for each character.

A good buddy of ours, Gage Lindsten even created one of the legends “Killer Keith”.

We did do a lot of research and development. We used Unity, then did a quick test in Unreal, then went back to Unity, used Pro Builder to get some larger environmental pieces built, etc.

The main thing we couldn’t get working was Perforce.

Damn that shit would have been lit.

:// TAPPING OUT

As mentioned before, I stepped away from the project due to family time.

I had a lot of fun working on Horror Legends and watching the game frow from a small sketch into something big.

Curious?

Well right this wat madam, you can now buy Horror Legends for the personal computer here.
