The making of DEV
>> PROJECT – D E V <<:// INTRO
I have probably been messing with forums for over 10 years now. As usual, I am late to the party. Forums used to be the place to gather online.
It was a nerd badge of honor to have your own discussion board, and not to mention huge nerd-points for styling it to match your website.
This domain was always used as a test-site for everything I learned (and broke) when it came to forums.
As I kept looking at it I felt “damn, I should really do something with the domain instead of letting it rot in digital limbo.”
:// MEMBERS ONLY
The site is password locked and each individual on it has been personally invited. You see, as we are now older, all of us do not have that much time to hang out as we used to.
I usually end up in a crazy text or email chain with the fellas going back and forth on “how-to” do something nerdy: running old games, patching old games to work on modern hardware, server set-up, etc.
There are more friends I have yet to invite, I just needed to make sure the layout, style and content was locked in before I peddled my shit to the homies.
:// WAREZ?
Hell no. All of the games and files I am sharing are from my own (purchased) collection.
For example, one of my buddies is getting really horny with Fallout as of Fallout 4. Well guess what, I purchased Fallout 1 and 2 from GOG (legally, DRM free baby) and I have gladly shared a copy with him.
I have also set up multiple (awesome) LAN parties with my own Warcraft 3 battle chest edition.
Good luck trying to re-download that from Blizzard.
I was on a kick of backing up all of my collection in the early 2010s and have not stopped since. Hell, you ever backed up a Sega Genesis cartridge?
I have son, that shit will change your life.
Shit almost brought tears to my eyes, it was my original copy from 1992.
In a way, I thought the forum could be a sort of “mother ship” for my nerdy shit.
Hence, that is why I put Samus’ Gunship in the header.
Not to mention, a little Sega humor as well.
